Misadventures Of A Not So Perfect Mom

I was looking for a unique recipe for chocolate cream pie and I stumbled on a chocolate angel pie from Style At Home . What makes this pie unique is that it almost seems like the pie is turned upside down. The meringue is the actual crust. The recipe was very simple to follow, but the pie had some flaws. The chocolate cream filling was very delightful, but I just was not crazy about the meringue crust I think I prefer it the old fashion way (on the top). Although, the picture from Style At Home looks great making the chocolate cream pie look nice was very hard and in fact as you can see by my picture I just gave up. The recipe suggests you cover the pie with cocoa powder and I think it is probably for aesthetic reasons. I omitted the cocoa powder because I am not a big fan of it. So I would make this recipe again, but with some alterations. I would add a traditional crust and put the meringue back on top. As for the chocolate cream filling I would not change it a bit it was creamy and super yummy.
